Sensitivity of Coronary CT Angiography Compared to Conventional Coronary Angiography in the Detection of Significant Coronary Artery Disease

Abstract
Objective: To assess the sensitivity of CT Coronary Angiography compared to more invasive Conventional Coronary Angiography in detection of coronary artery stenosis in patients with chronic stable angina.

Patient and method: A total eighty cases were evaluated. They underwent coronary CT angiography in Sulaymaniyah Cardiac center, those with 50% or more coronary artery lesion further evaluated with conventional coronary angiography to compare the results of both modality in terms of sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) respectively.

Result: A total eighty cases were evaluated. The mean age was 58.96 ± 10.24 years with a range of 32 to 82 years. Participants were predominantly male composing 65% of our cases and female was only 35%. As per segmental analysis, there were 800 segments of coronary arteries to evaluate, the accuracy in diagnosing stenosis less and more than 50%, it was found that sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV were 68.3, 93%, 71% and 92.1% respectively

Conclusion: Owing mainly to its high negative predictive value which was 92% in present study, a well- performed CCTA exam is an excellent method to rule out significant coronary artery stenosis.
